This week in Year 5 has been full of exciting learning! We’ve started our work on fractions, a topic we revisit often throughout the year. So far, we’ve explored improper fractions, mixed numbers, and how to find equivalent fractions for both unit and non-unit fractions.
In English, we’ve begun reading our new book The Last Bear and met the main character, April. We discussed how April is introduced to the reader and explored the vocabulary used to create her character and set the tone for the story.
In Art, we proudly completed our Claude Monet-inspired autumnal masterpieces, and in Science, we learned different methods for separating mixtures.
Reminder: Monday is Odd Socks Day to raise awareness for Anti-Bullying Week! Children should come to school in their usual uniform but can wear odd socks to recognise and celebrate the differences between us all.
Have a lovely weekend.
