🌟 Our Week of Learning 🌟
This week has been full of exciting learning across all subjects!
In Spanish, we focused on the verb “practicar” (to practise), building on our previous learning about sports. The children confidently used their growing vocabulary to talk about the activities they enjoy practising.
In English, we have been completely engrossed in the thrilling adventures of Fred, Lila, Con and Max in our novel the Explorer. Inspired by the clever habits of monkeys, the children learned how ants can be used to safely gather honey! Our explorers then made an exciting discovery—a map marked with an ‘X’. This has led them to set off on a journey down the Amazon River on their raft to uncover the mystery. We can’t wait to see what they find next!
In Maths, we have been consolidating our understanding of decimal numbers, continuing to build confidence and accuracy in this area.
Our learning in Geography has centred around the Amazon rainforest. We explored how it plays a vital role in regulating the world’s climate, as well as how climate change is impacting the rainforest and, in turn, the wider environment.
In Science, we began looking at how plants reproduce and create new plants, sparking curiosity about the natural world around us.
We ended the week on a high with a fantastic music assembly from the Wigan Music Alive Jazz Band. The children enjoyed listening to a variety of jazz pieces, recognised some familiar instruments, and experienced the joy of live music.
What an incredible week of learning and discovery!
Have a lovely weekend. Don't forget our Sports Day is due to be held on Tuesday 9th June (keep your fingers crossed for good weather!). We hope to see you there!
