We’ve had another exciting and busy week! In English, we continued reading The Last Bear and explored how April’s relationship with her dad has changed over time. We also discovered more about her magical bond with Bear and loved seeing how their friendship has grown.

In Maths, we completed our first fractions unit—every child worked exceptionally hard, and we’re so proud of their efforts! In Geography, we learned about biomes in the polar regions, including polar deserts and tundras, and began comparing the North and South Poles. We even joined a live assembly from the Antarctic itself! We joined Robert Swan OBE who told us all about what the Antarctic is like and the very important work they are doing as part of the 2041 School - Champions of Antarctica, an educational program to help protect the Antarctic.

Our DT lessons have been hands-on as we started sewing our winter hats—we can’t wait to see the finished designs! We have started to have a go of using a sewing machine and will continue this week.

In Science, we carried out an experiment to find which material is the best thermal insulator and discussed why these materials are so important. We found out that plastic was the best thermal insulator and metal was the worst when we tested plastic, ceramic and metal cups to see which cup kept water warm.

PE was full of festive fun with our “Crimbo Limbo” Christmas-themed session, and during lunchtimes, we’ve started our 12 Days of Fitness challenge.

It was lovely to meet you all at parents’ evening, and we hope you have a wonderful weekend!
