We’ve had a fantastic first week back in Year 4!
The children have worked really hard, especially in Maths, where we explored mixed numbers on a number line, ordered them, and practised counting beyond one whole. we are really growing in confidence explaining what a mixed number is using mathematical vocabulary and justifying how we can compare fractions with different denominators by comparing them to one half.
In English, we began our new book Queen of Darkness, looking closely at the character Rhianna—particularly how she feels when addressing the king—and analysing the historical figure Boudica. We picked oput quotes from the text that gave us lots of information about what kind of Queen Boudica is in the first two chapters.
In History and Science, the children showcased everything they’ve learned in their end‑of‑unit assessments. A superb effort.
In Geography, we started exploring different climates and biomes and learning what makes each of them unique.
This week’s homework is a Science carousel on Electricity, spellings, and times tables practice on TT Rockstars (Garage). We’ve also started a Year 4 battle—so plenty of practice is needed to see which class will come out on top!
Have a lovely weekend.
