This week in Year 4, we've had a fantastic time learning across a variety of subjects!
We were very fortunate to have a visit from Mr Perrin, a language specialist from Bolton School. We had a very fun French lesson where we learned how to describe family members in French. Thanks to Mr Perrin for the fantastic enrichment opportunity, the children LOVED it!
In English, we focused on writing a setting description inspired by Roar, using powerful vocabulary to bring our ideas to life. We have been wowed by the children’s ability to create rich, detailed descriptions. We also continued reading the book, answering inference-style questions to deepen our understanding of the characters and plot.
In Maths, we began our new topic on position and direction. We learned how to describe the position of coordinates and had a go at plotting them on a grid ourselves—great work, everyone!
In Art, we explored the use of watercolours, learning how to apply and blend them effectively. We studied the style of Hokusai, experimenting with colour to match his iconic design style.
During Geography, we discovered all about the Ring of Fire—where it's located, its connection to the Pacific Ocean, and why it's home to most of the world’s volcanoes. Fascinating stuff!
Forest School was another highlight of the week. We had a brilliant time exploring the woods, spotting wildlife, and building dens with our friends.
We ended the week on a high note, enjoying a magical whole-school performance of Peter Pan! Well done to all of our children who were a part of the production. They showcased some amazing talents and we are so proud of each and every one of you!
Homework this week includes:
- A carousel quiz on mountains
- Times tables practice
- Weekly spellings
Have a lovely weekend!
