A huge well done to all the children this week for their hard work and dedication and resilience when completing their assessments — they have truly done an amazing job!
In English, we have been busy analysing the fantastical setting in Land of Roar. We have used this description as inspiration to plan our own setting descriptions paying special attention to using the different senses to bring the characters to life. We have practised constructing sentences using effective expanded noun phrases to build description.
In Maths, we began exploring statistics, learning how to read and interpret bar charts and pictograms.
Our Art lessons this week involved creating print blocks out of card, string and lots of PVA glue! It was very messy! We will use these blocks as part of our final design, drawing inspiration from Hokusai’s famous artwork.
In Geography, we studied the different types of volcanoes, understanding the meanings of active, dormant, and extinct, and discovering why volcanoes erupt. We learned the names of the different parts of a volcano and used the analogy of being sick to help us! Sounds gross, but it worked!
We finished the week with a fun Friday morning in the forest, climbing trees and building dens.
For homework this week, children have an Art Still Life Carousel task, along with times tables and spelling practice.
Wishing everyone a lovely, restful weekend!
