We have had a busy and enjoyable week in Year 4.
In English, the children wrote their own Roman-themed poems, following the style of The Sound Collector, which we have been reading together. We also started our new class book, The Land of Roar, and the children already seem to be really enjoying it.
In Maths, we began our new topic on shape, starting with a focus on angles and turns. The children have been learning to identify different types of angles and understand how shapes can be rotated.
In Science, we explored the concept of pitch through a practical experiment using glasses filled with different amounts of water. We investigated how the level of water affects the pitch and frequency of the sound produced. The children really enjoyed this hands-on activity.
In Geography, we started our new topic on volcanoes. This week, we looked at the layers of the Earth and learned about what lies beneath the surface.
In Art, we began learning about the artist Hokusai. The children created fact files and explored his art movements and techniques.
On Friday, we had a wonderful time exploring the forest. It was lovely to spend time outside and enjoy some fun activities in nature.
A huge well done to all the children who completed their times tables quiz and took part in Sports Day. We are very proud of each and every one of you.
This week’s homework includes a Science Carousel activity, spellings, and times tables practice.
Have a lovely weekend!
