Year 4 Weekly Summary
What a fantastic week we’ve had in Year 4! The children have worked incredibly hard and really thrown themselves into all aspects of their learning.
In English, we have been diving into our new book The Great Chocoplot. The children have been exploring the main character, Jelly, and how her feelings change throughout the story. This has helped us prepare for writing our own diary entries from her point of view next week.
In Maths, we’ve continued our work on place value, focusing on thousands, hundreds, tens, and ones. We’ve been learning how to order and partition numbers and developing our understanding of their value. We also spent time this week practising our 2-, 4- and 8-times tables, working on quick recall and knowing them in and out of order.
In Science, we kicked off our new topic all about teeth and digestion. We began by identifying the different types of teeth in our mouths and learning about their individual functions.
In Geography, we started our topic on Ghana and cocoa production. We located Ghana on a map, discovered that it’s in the continent of Africa, and discussed how its climate makes it ideal for growing cocoa beans.
In PSHE, we introduced the topic of British Values and had some brilliant discussions about which values we think are most important and why.
Homework this week includes a learning postcard, weekly spellings, and times tables practice.
Wishing you all a lovely, restful weekend!
