Year 4 Weekly Round‑Up
We’ve had a fantastic and very busy week in Year 4.
On Tuesday we took part in National Story Telling Week and attended a live workshop with rapper and story teller, Alim Kamara! The children had a fantastic time writing their own raps. Please encourage them to submit them to our competition!
English
In English, the children have been working hard on using direct speech and making sure it is accurately punctuated. They then applied these skills by writing their own speech between the characters Hypnos and Thanatos, producing some wonderfully imaginative conversations.

Maths
In Maths, we have started our new topic on length and perimeter. The children have been exploring different units of measurement and practising how to calculate the perimeter of various shapes.

Science and Design Technology
Science was very hands‑on this week as the children created their own electrical circuits and experimented with insulators and conductors. This learning linked well with our DT lesson, where the children designed a net for their spotlight project, carefully labelling the parts and identifying everything they will need to complete their circuit.

History
In History, we explored some of the incredible legacies of Ancient Greece. The class especially enjoyed discovering inventions and traditions that still influence us today, such as the Olympics, Greek theatre, and early alarm clocks.

Times Tables Focus
We are having a real push on times tables this week. Each child has a heatmap in their homework book that highlights the multiplication facts they most need to focus on, and this will be updated regularly. Daily practice is essential to build rapid recall and confidence.
