It’s been another busy and productive week in Year 4, with plenty of learning and a few fun moments thrown in too!

In English, we wrapped up Roman Invasion, a book that really captured the children’s imaginations and kept them fully engaged throughout. We’ve now moved on to exploring poetry, starting with The Sound Collector. The children asked some thoughtful questions about the title and meaning of the poem, and enjoyed comparing it to The Magic Box, picking up on some lovely similarities and differences.

In Maths, we’ve started our unit on time. We’ve been getting to grips with reading both analogue and digital clocks, and we’ve also introduced the 24-hour clock. This can be tricky, but everyone is putting in a great effort.

In Science, we’ve continued our work on sound, with this week’s focus on pitch and volume. The children and are beginning to use scientific vocabulary confidently when describing what they’ve discovered.

We also completed our History topic on the Romans this week with our end-of-unit quiz. The children showed just how much they’ve learned – well done, everyone! In DT, we reflected on our recent pizza-making project, thinking carefully about the different skills we developed and how we might improve our creations next time.

Friday was a colourful end to the week as we came together in our bright, rainbow-themed clothes to raise money for the Rainbow Ward. A big thank you to everyone who donated – your generosity is much appreciated.

Homework this week is to complete a learning postcard and to keep practising those times tables. The national Times Tables Check is coming up next week, so any extra practice at home will make a real difference.
