What a wonderful week we’ve had in Year 1!
In English, the children completed their reading of The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. To help them prepare for retelling the story next week, they created brilliant story maps that sequence the key events.
In Maths, we continued our exploration of capacity and volume. The children worked incredibly hard comparing, measuring and estimating volumes.
Our Geography lessons looked at the differences between a village, town, and city. The children were able to name real-life examples too: Standish – a village, Wigan – a town and Manchester – a city.
In Art, the children practised sketching Peter Rabbit himself! They explored how to use watercolour pencils to add colour, creating some truly beautiful artwork. Their effort, concentration and resilience were outstanding—I can’t wait to see their final pieces next week!
A huge well done to Y1P for their brilliant team effort in the Big Walk & Wheel challenge! It’s been wonderful to see the children supporting the event with such enthusiasm.
Homework this week is Sounds Write based on the /ar/ sound.
Any questions, please ask!
