It has been a busy but lovely first week back after the Easter break, and it has been wonderful to welcome the children back to school. They have settled back into routines brilliantly and have all worked incredibly hard. We are very proud of them!

This week, the children have enjoyed starting lots of exciting new learning across the curriculum. In English, we have begun to explore our new class book Emma Jane’s Aeroplane. We are all enjoying the story and the children have loved finding out which places Emma Jane visits in the story and who joins her along the way!

In History, we have been learning about the Wright brothers and their important role in the development of flight. The children now know lots about the Wright brothers and how they came to carry out their first successful flight in 1903.

Our PE lesson was full of energy as we practised our overarm throwing skills. The children tried their very best and had great fun playing different games to practise their throwing and catching.

In Maths, we have been learning about equal and unequal groups. The children have also been practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We have worked hard on identifying whether a group is equal or unequal, how many items are in each group, and how many groups there are. There were some tricky concepts to explore but the children showed brilliant concentration and perseverance!

It has been a super start to the new term, and the children should be very proud of all they have achieved this week. We are looking forward to another exciting week of learning ahead.

Well done, Year 1, keep up the fantastic work!
