Y1P 23/01/26

Date: 23rd Jan 2026 @ 9:36am

Year 1P have had a busy and exciting week full of brilliant learning across the curriculum!

In Maths, the children have been working hard with numbers to 20. They practised estimating numbers on a number line, comparing numbers and ordering numbers from smallest to largest.

In English, the children became authors and illustrators as they created a missing poster for Sunny. They carefully described what Sunny looks like using fantastic detail, including a pointy nose, dark eyes, long legs and short arms. The children did a wonderful job using adjectives to describe Sunny.

In Geography, the children learned about the equator, the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. They then used a world map to locate all three.

In Science, we investigated the signs of Winter. The children shared their ideas and learned about wind, rain, frost, warm clothing and how some animals hibernate during the colder months. They asked lots of thoughtful questions and enjoyed linking this learning to their own experiences.

In Computing, the children continued developing their programming skills. They learned how to program floor robots to move around a floor mat using the forwards and backwards buttons. The children showed excellent teamwork and problem-solving as they tested and adjusted their instructions.

Homework this week is on MyMaths.
