🌟 Year 1 Weekly Blog 🌟
What a wonderful week we have had in Year 1!

🏃‍♀️ Sports Day
On Tuesday, we had our school Sports Day and the children had a fantastic time taking part in a range of activities.

They competed in:

  • the sprint race
  • obstacle course
  • hurdles
  • bean bag throw

Every child tried their very best, showed great sportsmanship and gave each activity a go. We were so proud of their effort and determination. Well done, everyone!

The children especially enjoyed our school family picnic at lunchtime and it was lovely to share this time with family members. Thank you to everyone who was able to come along to support.

🔢 Maths
In Maths, we have been learning about numbers up to 100.

The children have been using 100 squares to find numbers and have taken part in lots of fun games to support their understanding. You may wish to try these games at home:

📚 English
In English, the children have been writing apology letters in role as Katie from Katie Morag Delivers the Mail.

They did a fantastic job imagining how Katie would feel after mixing up the parcels and wrote thoughtful letters to the people who received the wrong deliveries.

🌍 Geography
In Geography, we have been learning about human and physical features.

We discussed what these terms mean and used our knowledge to identify and talk about the human and physical features you might find in Blackpool. The children showed a great understanding of the differences.

🙏 RE
In RE with Mrs Johns this week, the children have learned about baptism and how it is a special ceremony where babies are welcomed into the Christian family and the Church. The children shared thoughtful ideas about why this is an important occasion.

🎤 Father’s Day Assembly
We had two wonderful performances of our Father’s Day assembly on Friday.

The children were incredibly brave when saying their lines and performed a beautiful song. They thoroughly enjoyed standing on the stage and seeing the audience. We are so proud of them!

Thank you to everyone who came along to watch; it meant a lot to the children.

Thank you for your continued support.

Have a lovely weekend! 🌈
