What a fantastic end to the half term in Year 1!

This week the children completed their final DT project by making their own fruit salads. They practised safe cutting skills, chose their favourite fruits, and proudly enjoyed their delicious creations.

In Geography, we compared the weather in the Kalahari Desert with the weather in Standish. The children discussed how temperature is very different. They also compared the four seasons we experience in the UK with the very different seasonal patterns of the Kalahari Desert.

To mark Children’s Mental Health Week, Year 1 took part in a workshop and assemblies all about ‘My Place’. The children explored spaces that help them feel calm, happy, and safe, and enjoyed sharing what makes those places special to them.

Homework over half term is to complete their Learning Postcard following on from our Geography topic, Hot and Cold Places.

The children have worked brilliantly this half term, I am so proud of their enthusiasm and progress.

See you all on Monday 23rd February.
