What a busy and exciting week it has been in Year 1P!

In English, we continued exploring The Rabbit Problem by Emily Gravett. The children have enjoyed discussing the characters and thinking about what might happen next. They particularly loved looking at the detailed illustrations and talking about the rabbit adventures unfolding on each page!

In Maths, the children have been working hard on partitioning numbers up to 50. They impressed us with their ability to group tens and ones, using practical equipment and drawings to show their understanding.

In Geography, the children learned about the surrounding waters around the United Kingdom: North Sea, English Channel, Atlantic Ocean, and Irish Sea, and enjoyed locating them on maps.

In Art, Year 1 focused on pencil control and experimented with different shading techniques. The children practised creating light and dark tones and explored how Beatrix Potter used shading to add detail and texture.

One of the highlights of our week was celebrating World Book Day! We were incredibly lucky to welcome Emma Reynolds, who led a wonderful workshop all about her book Amara and the Bats. The children were completely inspired and loved learning about storytelling, illustration, and caring for the environment.

It was also a joy to see the children in their fantastic costumes—so much colour, imagination, and effort went into dressing up.

This weeks homework is Maths, on NumBots.
