This week we have been reading ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ by Rhonda and David Armitage. The children have been thinking of ways to stop the pesky seagulls stealing the lighthouse keeper’s lunch – they have been most ingenious! We have been learning about the history of lighthouses and it has been lovely to see the children creating their own lighthouses and re-enacting the story in different ways during play.
In Maths we have been beginning to learn about sharing and grouping – the children enjoyed sharing chocolate chip biscuits at snack time!
Mr Carr was busy during PE preparing the children for sports day and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the sunny weather comes back!
The children enjoyed being back at the forest and went on a fir cone hunt with Mrs Grimshaw, where they learnt squirrels eat the seeds inside. We also found an egg shell - we had a good discussion about what bird could of been inside.
We have been very grateful for the sponsor money raised by the children for their sponsored run and it was lovely to end the week with a whole school non-uniform day to add to the money raised.
Have a lovely weekend! 😊
