We have had a lovely week in Reception, full of imagination, exploring and big ideas!
Our Drawing Club story was Whatever Next! by Jill Murphy. The children loved following Baby Bear on his space adventure and were very excited as he zoomed to the moon in his cardboard box rocket. They came up with their own ideas about how aliens could travel to Earth for our adventure!
We continued our space theme by learning simple facts about the moon, stars and planets. In RE, we talked about how Christians believe the world was created and why it is important to look after our wonderful Earth.
In maths, we explored shapes. The children enjoyed turning and moving shapes, noticing that they stay the same even when they are rotated. We also combined shapes to make new ones, building pictures, objects and patterns. There was lots of great problem solving and teamwork!
At Forest School, we learned about butterflies. This links to the butterflies in our classroom — we are still waiting for them to come out of their chrysalis! The children have been very excited and we have been talking about the butterfly life cycle and what might happen next.
Have a lovely weekend! 🌟
