In maths, we’ve continued building our skills with angles. Everyone has been getting more confident using protractors to measure and draw angles accurately – a tricky skill but very satisfying once you get the hang of it!
In English, we’ve been diving deeper into The Explorer by Katherine Rundell. Chapters 4 and 5 have given us lots to think about. We’ve been exploring the author’s techniques, such as how she uses description to build suspense and bring the Amazon setting to life. There were some brilliant discussions about how the characters are developing too.
We’ve also kicked off our new science topic – life cycles. So far, we’ve been comparing the life cycles of different mammals, including placental mammals like humans, marsupials like kangaroos, and monotremes like the platypus. It’s been fascinating to see how varied the animal kingdom really is!
In geography, we’ve started looking at the world’s rainforests. As well as learning where tropical rainforests are found, we discovered that there are also temperate rainforests – and surprisingly, some can even be found in the UK! Who knew we had our very own rainforests?
We’re looking forward to building on all of this next week – especially getting more hands-on in science and exploring more of the Amazon in our reading.
Have a great weekend, see you all next week!
