Year 4 Weekly Round-Up – A Week of Hard Work and Exciting Learning!
The children have worked incredibly hard across all subjects and should be very proud of everything they’ve achieved.
In English, we’ve been stepping into the shoes of Bran, writing a recount from his point of view. The children have focused on using the first person, past tense, and writing events in chronological order—they really brought Bran’s experiences to life through their words!
Maths has been all about decimals this week. We've explored partitioning numbers into tenths and hundredths, flexibly breaking them down in different ways and learning how to order them accurately.
In History, we continued our exploration of the Romans, focusing on the amazing legacies they left behind. From concrete, roads, and aqueducts to public bath houses, we discussed how these innovations shaped the world—and how crucial concrete was in making them all possible.
We also launched our exciting new DT topic: making pizzas! We started by exploring different types of dough-based products, discussing which types are best suited for pizza and learning the difference between rising and non-rising dough. A delicious topic we’re all very excited about!
In Computing, we’ve begun our journey with Scratch, using a step-by-step booklet to start creating our very own games. The children were so engaged and showed fantastic perseverance and creativity.
This week’s homework includes a Geography Carousel focusing on Ghana and cocoa production, spellings, and of course, lots and lots of rapid recall of times tables—keep practising!
Have a lovely, restful weekend and well done Year 4 for another brilliant week of learning!
