This week, we dove into our new class text, Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman. It’s a fascinating story, and the children have already been captivated by the main character’s unique journey. We’ve started exploring the book’s themes and characters, and the class is eager to see where the story will lead!
In Science, we began learning about the circulatory system. The students were fascinated to discover how our heart, blood, and blood vessels work together to keep us alive and active. We discussed the vital role the heart plays, and next week, we’ll even look at how different types of exercise can impact our circulatory system.
In Maths, we’re continuing to master fractions. This week, we focused on problem-solving strategies involving adding, subtracting, and multiplying fractions. The children have shown great resilience in tackling some tricky problems and are becoming quite the fraction experts!
Our new Art unit has been inspired by the incredible work of artist Ileana Hunter. Known for her detailed, minimalist pencil drawings, Hunter’s style encourages us to focus on the beauty of simple lines. The children started practicing their own line-drawing skills and are looking forward to creating their own art inspired by her work.
We’ve also kicked off our new History topic, “Crime and Punishment.” This term, we’ll be traveling back in time to see how justice was served in Anglo-Saxon and Tudor times. This week, we set the scene by discussing what they already knew, and we’ve already had some lively debates about fairness and justice!
