This week in English, we proudly finished reading Holes, and the children were genuinely sad to say goodbye to such a gripping story. It was wonderful to see how much they enjoyed the twists, mysteries and clever connections throughout the book. We have now begun our new class novel, Darwin’s Dragons, and excitement is already building as the children meet new characters and explore a very different style of adventure.
In Maths, we have been working hard on understanding the links between decimals, fractions and percentages. The children have practised finding equivalents and have used this knowledge to order different values with increasing confidence. Their determination during lessons has been fantastic, and it has been great to see them explaining their thinking so clearly.
World Book Day was a real highlight. The children arrived in such imaginative and creative costumes - each one showing their enthusiasm for reading in a unique way. We were incredibly impressed by their effort and engagement, and we would like to say a huge thank you to parents and carers for your support. As part of the celebrations, we also took part in a live lesson with the author of the Tom Gates books, which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
In PSHE, we focused on the meaning and importance of consent. The children discussed why it is essential to ask permission, listen carefully to the answer and always respect other people’s boundaries. They handled this maturely and showed a strong understanding of why consent matters in everyday life.
Well done for another brilliant week, Year 6. We are very proud of you!
