We've had yet another fantastic week in Year 3.
In Maths, we continued our unit of length and perimeter. We looked at equivalent lengths in meters, centimeters, and millimeters, and how to convert those lengths. We also learned how to compare lengths and add them together to find out the length or height of a shape or pattern.
In English, we continued our class text of 'The girl who lost a leopard' and have been able to find evidence from the text to answer questions and to support our ideas. The children also had an amazing opportunity to take part in a live zoom session with Alim Kamara which was so engaging for the children. They all loved joining in and contributing to the rap he was writing. There is an opportunity for the children to create their own raps to be entered in a competition for Alim Kamara to perform. We have already had some amazing raps be submitted!
In Geography, we continued our unit on 'Rivers' and looked at the water cycle. The children loved getting involved and acting out the stages of the water cycle in the classroom!
In Science, we had a really fun lesson looking at all different types of soils. Mrs Jones kindly spent her weekend putting different types of soil in little pots so we could all have a close look at what characteristics the soils each have.
In DT, we continued to look at different stitches and really focused on how to do an overstitch. The children are becoming a lot more confident in threading the needle and knotting their thread.
In Computing, we have developed our skills on Scratch by learning how to use costumes to change the appearance of a sprite and different backdrops to change the appearance of the stage. The children used all their knowledge and skills from the previous weeks to design and create their own project with sequences and sounds.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Miss Robinson and Mrs Jones
