This week in English, we continued reading The Last Bear and explored reasons both for and against taking a dangerous journey to Svalbard.
In Design and Technology, we showed great resilience and perseverance while creating our own winter hats, starting with making a paper pattern.
In Geography we learned how animals and people adapt to living in the polar regions, including the Nenet tribe who survive in harsh conditions by herding and eating reindeer. We also discovered that it is far too cold for people to live permanently in Antarctica. Alongside this, we looked at climate change—its causes and what we can do to help—because it is having a huge impact not only on the polar regions but across the whole world.
In Science, we explored reversible and irreversible changes, finding out that irreversible changes create a new product or material.
Another week full of great learning!
