It has been a busy week in Reception this week. In maths, the children have been introduced to the concept of zero. The children enjoyed looking at pictures depicting numbers alongside pictures depicting ‘zero’. They were able to then recognise the pictures that showed ‘zero’ and those that were ‘not zero’. We then worked on recognising and representing numbers from 0 to 5 and subitising 0-5. Ask your child to show you how they can use their fingers to represent these numbers!

The children have had great fun in Drawing Club this week as we focused on “The Gingerbread Man” story. The children listened to this classic tale and then used their imaginations to draw their very own gingerbread characters. We had gingerbread men with hats, bow ties, and some with big, happy smiles!

We continued our exploration of postal workers by comparing pictures from the past and the present. The children were fascinated by how different things looked "back then" and how they have changed. We looked at old mailbags, uniforms, and transport and compared them with those we see today.

As we start getting into the festive spirit, the children are creating their very own Christmas stockings! We started by looking at different types of Christmas stockings, discussed materials, and then the children learned simple running stitch techniques. It’s so inspiring to see them working hard and practicing their stitching skills. You’ll be amazed at their creations!
We also made our own gingerbread men and they were delicious!

It was lovely to see so many of you at parents’ evening and we would like to thank you for your continued support.

Have a wonderful weekend.
