This week we have introduced our new topic of ‘Postal Workers’. We have been discussing the different roles in our community, such as; teachers, police officers, florists, shop assistants and postal workers. The children have also had lots of fun role-playing in the new post office.
In drawing club, we read ‘The Jolly Postman’ by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. The children designed a new bike for the Jolly Postman so he could deliver his letters quicker, and a Christmas jumper for him to wear when delivering letters in December.
In maths, we have been learning about shapes with 4 sides. The children have described both squares and rectangles and have used lolly pops sticks to make these shapes. We also explored folding a square piece of paper to make smaller rectangles and squares – the children did a great job!
In PE, we have continued with our topic of ‘Transport’, the children have been practising travelling under and over apparatus and overarm throwing.
We have been practising singing for our Christmas performance, which the children are very excited for!
In forest school on Wednesday the children went for a very muddy winter walk, we looked for signs of winter whilst we were on our walk and also talked about other signs of winter we may see over the coming weeks. We also played a 'hedgehog' game which was lots of fun!!
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Dyson and Mrs Powell.
