27/6/25

Date: 27th Jun 2025 @ 2:58pm

The weeks are flying by in Y3G! I have been really impressed with how well the children have worked this week, they should be really proud of themselves!

In Maths, the children have learnt about horizontal and vertical lines and parallel and perpendicular lines. They are able to spot parallel and perpendicular lines in pictures and around the classroom.

In English, the children have sequenced events throughout chapters 19-21 and they have retrieved evidence from the text to show when Hal was feeling hesitant, frightened and on edge. It's getting rather dramatic in the book and the children are loving being detectives and deciding who is the thief!

In Geography, the children have looked at different mountainous regions across the UK. We explored the mountain ranges of the highest Peaks using Google Earth and the children wrote wonderful enquiry answers about all they've learnt to far.

In Science, the children have looked at how reflection works and how light travels. We discussed the difference between shiny and full surfaces and how they reflect light in different ways.

In DT, the children explored how join pieces of wood and make them secure by adding strengthening triangles. They worked out top tips for gluing pieces of wood together and tested the best methods of using the triangles to reinforce the strength.

Well done for winning class points this week Y3G!
