This week has been assessment week in Year 5, and we’re incredibly proud of the effort every child has put into their SPAG, Reading and Maths assessments. They showed great resilience, focus, and a positive attitude throughout. Well done, everyone!
💰 PSHE – Economic Wellbeing
As part of our work on economic wellbeing, we’ve been learning about the importance of keeping money safe. The children explored different ways to protect their money and discussed sensible spending and saving habits.
🌍 Geography
We continued our exploration of the Amazon region, this time looking at the different types of farming—subsistence and commercial. The class compared how each method impacts the rainforest and the people who live there.
🧬 Science
In Science, we’ve been learning about the life stages of a human, building a human development timeline. We looked more closely at the changes that occur in late adulthood and discussed how our bodies and needs continue to change throughout life.
🎨 Art
Our focus in Art has been on tonal shading. Using 2B and 4B pencils, the children practised creating core shadows, middle tones, and highlights to make 2D shapes look 3D. It’s been brilliant to see their understanding of light and form developing through careful sketching.
A big well done to Year 5 for a thoughtful and hard-working week—you’ve earned a restful weekend!
