Boccia North West Competition
On Wednesday, the Wood Fold Boccia team took part in the North West boccia championships, which were held in Greenbank Sports Centre in Liverpool. The team were put into a group of 5 from teams from Cumbria, Merseyside and Lancashire. The boys performed superbly well, showing fantastic teamwork and control with their shots played. After winning 4 matches and losing only 1, the team progressed through to the semi-final. Here, they were up against xii Apostles school from Leigh, who they comfortably beat to progress to the final. After a hard thought match, the team unfortunately came up short. However, finishing second in the whole of the North West is something to be proud of! Well done to the Wood Fold Warriors.
Town Sports Heats
This week, our athletics team took part in the annual ‘Town Sports Athletics’ heats event at Robin Park. Our Year 5/6 team were in action on Tuesday, and our Year 3/4 team competed yesterday. All of the children put their heart and soul into each race and have been a real credit to Wood Fold! The following children are now through to next Tuesday’s Finals night:
- Year 3/4 Girls 300m race-Maisie
- Year 5/6 Boys 200m race-William
- Year 5/6 Girls 200m race-Sylvie
- Year 5/6 Boys 80m race-Emmett
- Year 5/6 Girls 80m race-Freya
- Year 5/6 Boys 100m relay-Ollie, Emmett, William & Oliver
- Year 5/6 Girls 100m relay-Sylvie-Freya, Daisy & Jasmine
- Year 3/4 Boy 50m relay-Jack, Sam, Vinnie & Caleb
- Year 3/4 Girls 50m relay-Maisie, Alice, Iris & Eva
