We've had an incredible time exploring new concepts and engaging in fun activities across various subjects in Year 1 this week. Here's a snapshot of our week in Maths, Science, Geography, and our thrilling trip to Aerozone!
**Maths: Discovering Place Value to 100**
In Maths, we've embarked on a journey to unravel the mystery of numbers with our introduction to place value up to 100. The children have been busy understanding how we build numbers using tens and ones. We've used practical activities, like counting bundles of straws and using base ten blocks, to help solidify this concept. It’s been fantastic to see the children recognising patterns and growing in confidence as they begin to grasp larger numbers!
**Science: Following the Warmth of Summer Weather**
In Science, our focus has been on understanding summer weather. The children have been observing changes in the environment and discussing how the sun influences our weather during this season. We’ve talked about sunny days, longer daylight, and even the fun activities summer weather allows us to enjoy. Our budding scientists are keeping weather diaries and making connections between the weather and their daily lives.
**Geography: Discovering the Landmarks of Blackpool**
Our geography lessons transported us to the lively town of Blackpool this week. The children have been fascinated by some of Blackpool's famous landmarks, including the grand Blackpool Tower, the South Pier, and the fun-filled Blackpool Pleasure Beach. We've been creating drawings and sharing stories, sparking interest in how geography shapes our surroundings and the exciting places beyond our immediate world.
**Our Thrilling Trip to Aerozone**
This week, we had an unforgettable trip to Aerozone! The children were thrilled to learn about aeroplanes, airports, and the bustling world of aviation. From observing how planes take off and land to understanding the different roles within an airport, our young adventurers were full of questions and curiosity.
We hope you enjoyed this peek into our learning journey. Your children have shown enthusiasm and a fantastic attitude towards their learning this week. As the school year progresses, we’re excited to continue exploring and discovering new topics together.
Thank you for your continued support in your child's learning adventure.
Have a wonderful weekend!
