We have had a brilliant week in Year 3 this week.
In Maths, we have continued our unit on mass and capacity. We have been looking at volume and capacity and measuring in mililitres and litres.
In English, we have continued to read 'Secrets of a Sun King'. The children wrote a diary entry in the role of Lil. They were encouraged to include Lil's thoughts and feelings at different points in the story. I was very impressed with the creativity of each diary entry.
In Science, we looked at British Scientist William Gilbert and his contribitions to magnetism and electricity. William Gilbert was the first person to suggest that the Earth's core is made from extremely hot liquid metal. He proposed that the Earth acts like a gigantic magnet with magnetic poles, explaining why compasses point north.
In Computing, we continued working on branching databases. The children are becoming more confident with choosing questions to identify different things.
In Forest School, the children explored different types of knots, natural musical instruments and enjoyed getting extremely mucky; but that is what Forest School is all about!
I hope you have a lovely weekend,
Miss Hunter
