Hello everyone!

This week, we have been reading the wonderful book Clean Up! by Nathan Bryon. We loved following Rocket's adventure to save the ocean from plastic pollution, and it gave us some amazing ideas! We became eco-warriors and invented new ways to collect plastic from the beach. Some of us designed giant nets, while others created special floating boats. We now know that keeping our planet tidy helps all the animals who live here.

In Maths, we have been busy bees counting backwards from 10. We practiced saying our numbers like a countdown: "10, 9, 8, 7...". We also played a fun game to find "one less" than a number. If you have five toy cars, and you take one away, you have four! We are getting very good at it.

This week in art, we continued to explore the wonderful, colourful work of Wassily Kandinsky. He was an abstract artist who loved using different colours and shapes to show feelings. We looked at his piece called Concentric Circles and talked about how it made us feel. Some of us felt happy looking at the bright colours, while others felt calm looking at the soft ones.

We've been busy in science, learning all about animal body parts. We talked about different parts of their bodies, like legs, wings, and tails. We learned that each part does a special job to help them move and live.

During our trip to First School, we had a fantastic time exploring and playing in nature. We played hide-and-seek and worked together to make some cosy dens for our squirrel friends.

In Geography, we learned all about amenities. These are useful and pleasant places in our community that we all use, like the doctor's surgery, shops, and the library. We did some brilliant role-playing to understand what happens at each of these places. We pretended to be librarians, shopkeepers, and even doctors!

We have had a very busy and fun-filled week. Well done, Year 1!
