🌟 Year 1 Weekly Blog 🌟
What a hot week it has been in Year 1! The children have coped brilliantly with the warm weather. We have been making sure they drink plenty of water and stay in the shade when outside. They have been incredibly sensible and responsible - well done, everyone!

The children have been sequencing the story and then writing their own retell, including the key events. We have been so impressed with how hard the children have worked - there has been some absolutely beautiful handwriting and fantastic effort. Well done, Year 1!
We will be soon be starting our brand new text, The Secret of Black Rock by Joe Todd Stanton, I am sure the children will love it!

The children have been developing their understanding of numbers up to 100 through written and practical activities as well as games. They have really enjoyed practising their skills in engaging ways.

🎨 Art
In Art, the children have been learning about Flotsam and exploring how artists use found materials in their work. We have been looking at the work of Jo Atherton and discussing how she creates textured pieces using weaving techniques. The children are getting ready to design and create their own woven artwork inspired by her work, and they are very excited to get started!
📚 Reading Books ReminderWe are still missing some sharing books. We would really appreciate it if you could send them in to school with the children next week.
We will also soon be starting to send full books home, so please could children bring a carrier bag into school to help with this.
Thank you for your continued support.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine if it still with us! 🌈
