It’s been a brilliant and busy week in Year 5, full of new learning and exciting discoveries!
In English, we’ve started our new class read The Explorer by Katherine Rundell. The story is already proving to be a hit, sparking lots of discussion and curiosity. We’ve been using it to inspire our own writing and to look closely at how authors build atmosphere and develop characters. There’s plenty more to come, and we’re all looking forward to seeing how the adventure unfolds!
Over in Maths, we’ve been diving into statistics, with a focus on line graphs. We’ve been interpreting data, spotting trends, and even starting to draw our own graphs. It’s been a great way to bring numbers to life and to see how data can tell a story when it’s presented clearly.
In History, we’ve wrapped up our unit on the Early Islamic Civilisation. This week, we explored some of the incredible advances in technology and healthcare made during this period. From surgical tools to scientific discoveries, the achievements of this time were truly ahead of their time. We also created an E-book about how the sick and the poor were cared for in ancient Islamic society—lots of thoughtful work went into this, and it really helped us understand the importance of compassion and innovation in the past.
Well done to everyone for a fantastic week of learning! Enjoy your weekend—we’ve got plenty more to explore next week.
