2/5/25 Y5D

Date: 2nd May 2025 @ 4:05pm

We have had another busy week in Year 5 this week. We are really enjoying reading our new English novel 'The Explorer' by Katherine Rundell and are gathering content to complete our first writing task - a setting description of the Amazon Rainforest. We have looked at descriptive phrases and personification  to help us plan and write a detailed description next week.

As part of our computing learning, we were architects! We used our knowledge of architecture from studying Dame Zaha Hadid last half term, to design our own dream houses. Using Planner 5D, we created a 2D layout of our houses, adding rooms before viewing it in 3D. We then needed to think about where doors and windows needed to go before adding decorative elements like wallpaper, flooring and furniture. We have some budding architects in Year 5 and the designs were amazing!

We have started our new unit in Spanish 'La Musica', where we began to look at direct types of music. We combined our learning from last half term to say whether we liked or disliked certain types of music.

Please note that if you are going to the Anderton Centre residential there is an error on the information given out tonight. We will be having an early lunch at school before we leave, not at the Anderton Centre. Children who bring in a packed lunch from home should bring one in as normal but in a disposable bag that can be thrown away. Children who have a school dinner, will have one as normal. Many thanks.

We hope you have a lovely bank holiday and look forward to seeing you on Tuesday. 😎
