Year 4 Weekly Round-Up – A Week of Wonderful Learning!
What a fantastic week we’ve had in Year 4! The children have shown great enthusiasm, focus and resilience across all subjects – they should be incredibly proud of the effort they’ve put in.
In English, we’ve continued with our class book Roman Invasion, diving deeper into the story as we planned our own recounts from the perspective of Bran, witnessing the intense battle between the Romans and the Caledonians. The children really impressed me with their imagination and ability to step into the character's shoes.
In Maths, we’ve been working hard with decimals, looking closely at tenths and hundredths and understanding them as parts of a whole and understanding what needs adding to them to make a whole. It’s been brilliant to see the children becoming more confident in working with these concepts.
In Art, we took time to evaluate our Still Life drawings, and what an impressive collection of work it was! The creativity and attention to detail on display were amazing – every child should feel very proud of what they have produced.
Our Science learning came to a close this week as we completed our end-of-unit quiz, tying together everything we’ve learned about living things and their habitats. It was a great opportunity to reflect on how much knowledge we’ve gained this term.
In History, we learned all about the fierce and fearless Boudica – who she was, her rebellion against the Romans, why she fought, and what her legacy means today. To showcase their understanding, the children created mind maps filled with facts, insights and thoughtful reflections.
To finish the week on a high, we had lots of fun this morning in our Spanish lesson, where we learned the names of different body parts. We even sang a lively song to help us remember them.
Homework this week includes continued times tables practice – focusing on speed and accuracy – spellings, and a Science Carousel task all about living things and their habitats. Please support your child in completing these tasks.
Well done, Year 4 – another brilliant week of learning! Have a lovely weekend and bank holiday!
