We have had another busy week of learning in Year 2!
In Maths, we have been estimating numbers on a number line. We have also been comparing and ordering both objects and numbers, thinking carefully about which are greater, smaller or equal.
In History, we continued learning about Queen Elizabeth II's childhood. We found out that she was taught at home alongside her sister, Princess Margaret. We also discovered that she was a very good swimmer and enjoyed horse riding from a young age.
In Science, we explored the life cycle of a frog. We looked at the different stages a frog goes through as it grows, from frogspawn to an adult frog, and discussed the changes that happen at each stage.
In Computing, we learned how barcodes work in shops. We found out that a barcode is scanned using a scanner connected to a till. The number stored in the barcode is used to look up the item, and once it has been matched, the price is found. This information comes from another computer that all of the tills are connected to. The price is then displayed on a screen and added to the customer's shopping total.
In DT, we continued our focused practical tasks by practising sewing a running stitch onto a piece of felt.
In PSHE, we have been learning about the Rule of Law and what it means. We discussed the rules and laws that we follow and why they are important in helping to keep everyone safe, happy and treated fairly.
On Thursday, we enjoyed learning some Cantonese. We discovered that Cantonese is spoken in Hong Kong and learned how to say a few simple phrases. We also found out some interesting facts about Hong Kong and where it is located on a map.
Thank you for all your hard work this week.
Have a lovely weekend!
