What a fantastic week of learning we have had in Year 3!

In English, we continued our journey with the yetis as they travelled across different countries. Along the way, we were introduced to El Magnifico, Spain’s fiercest bull, who took quite a liking to silly old Hubert the Yak! The children enjoyed following the twists and turns of the story and discussing the characters’ adventures. After lots of ups and downs, the yetis finally arrived safely at Farley Towers.

In Maths, we used our knowledge of the 5 times table to help us count in 50s. We also developed our understanding of place value by comparing and ordering numbers up to 1,000, explaining how the value of each digit helped us decide which numbers were greater or smaller.

In Art, we analysed the artwork of William Morris. We looked closely at the colours, patterns and features he included in his designs and discussed how the artwork made us feel. The children shared their own opinions and gave thoughtful reasons to explain their ideas.

On Thursday, we celebrated European Languages Day, focusing on the country of Portugal. We explored the Portuguese flag, discovered some interesting facts about the country and learned a variety of Portuguese words and phrases. The children thoroughly enjoyed trying out a new language!

We also had lots of fun during Forest School. Some children used identification charts to help them recognise different plants and trees in our forest area. They carefully examined the shape and colour of leaves to work out which species they had found, becoming real nature detectives!

We are very proud of all the hard work and enthusiasm the children have shown this week. Well done, Year 3! 🌟
