This week, we have taken full advantage of the sunshine and enjoyed spending lots of time outdoors. On Wednesday, we spent a wonderful afternoon taking part in forest activities, exploring the signs of autumn. The children recorded their observations in their learning journals and enjoyed talking about the changes they could see around them.
After spending time practising their phonics skills, the children read their very first reading books in school. They showed great determination and resilience, and we were incredibly impressed with their developing confidence and reading skills.
Following our lovely discussions about grandparents last week, we chose to read Gruffalo Granny during Drawing Club. The children had lots of fun imagining what a Grandpa Gruffalo might be like, perhaps a new idea for Julia Donaldson!
In maths, we continued exploring different ways to sort objects. We compared groups to find out which had more and which had fewer, developing our understanding of comparing quantities.
To celebrate European Day of Languages, we enjoyed learning a simple Portuguese song,  introduced to us by one of our families. The children loved joining in and learning words in a different language.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
