Welcome Back! We hope everyone had a fantastic Easter break and is feeling refreshed and ready for a new term packed full of exciting learning opportunities! Here’s a recap of what our Year 1 children have been up to during their first week back.

English This week, the children were introduced to a brand-new story: Emma Jane’s Aeroplane by Katie Haworth. This engaging tale has sparked their curiosity and it’s been wonderful to see their imaginations soar as they consider what adventures might lie ahead for Emma Jane.

Maths In Maths, we’ve been busy building on our knowledge of measurement and volume. The children have also embarked on an exciting new topic focusing on multiplication and division. This week, they started with counting in 2s—laying the foundations for strong number skills!

Science Our budding scientists have delved into the fascinating world of materials! This new topic will help them understand the properties of everyday objects and how they’re made. We can’t wait to see their curiosity grow as they explore this area further.

History Year 1 has taken to the skies with the launch of our aviation topic! The children began learning about the incredible story of the Wright brothers and their ground-breaking achievements. Their interest in aviation is truly taking off!

Reading Please note that reading books will now be sent home on Fridays instead of Mondays. We hope this small adjustment will make it easier for families to enjoy reading time together over the weekend.

It’s been a wonderful start to the term, and we’re excited about all the learning that’s still to come. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to sharing more of Year 1’s adventures next week!

Warm regards, Year 1 team
