We have had a fantastic start to the term and it has been lovely to see everyone return to school refreshed and ready to learn after the Easter break. The class has settled back into routines really well and shown a super attitude across all subjects.

In English, we have enjoyed reading the next five chapters of Darwin’s Dragons. The story has become even more exciting as we learned that Syms has found himself trapped in a cave. Inside the cave, he discovered several items that suggest humans have been there before, which has led to lots of great discussion and predictions about what might happen next.

In spelling, we have been focusing on silent letters and practising how to add different suffixes to root words, thinking carefully about spelling rules and meanings.

Our maths lessons have been very busy! We have practised finding the mean of a set of data and learned how to measure angles accurately using a protractor. We have also worked with pie charts, finding out how many people or items a section represents, as well as calculating the angle that matches a given amount. The class has shown great resilience when tackling these challenges.

In PE, we have been developing our teamwork and coordination skills through tennis and lacrosse. Everyone has worked hard to improve their throwing, catching and striking skills, while also remembering the importance of fair play and encouragement.

Well done, Year 6, for such a positive and hardworking start to the term – keep it up!
