Welcome back everyone!
We hope you all had a lovely Easter holiday and enjoyed spending time with your families. It has been wonderful to see all the children return to school with big smiles, ready to learn and share their holiday news with their friends.
We have already made a fantastic start to our new learning this term.
In English, we have started our new class text Emma Jane’s Aeroplane. The children have been very excited to explore the story and talk about the places Emma Jane travels to. We have been learning about adjectives and using them to describe New York, thinking carefully about what we might see, hear and feel there. The children did a brilliant job using adventurous describing words in their writing.
In Maths, we have moved on to multiplication and division. We have been counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and learning how to find equal groups using practical resources. The children have enjoyed sharing objects and finding out how many are in each group.
In DT, we have been exploring levers and sliders. The children enjoyed looking at how things move and spotting levers and sliders in everyday objects. We are looking forward to using this knowledge in future projects.
In Science, we have started learning about materials. The children have been investigating different objects and talking about what they are made from, such as wood, metal, plastic and fabric.
Our new History topic is all about aviation. We have begun by learning about the Wright brothers and how they helped change the way people travel by inventing the first successful aeroplane. The children have asked some fantastic questions and shown lots of curiosity.
In PSHE, we have been thinking about what it means to be a good friend. The children shared thoughtful ideas about kindness, sharing, helping others and using kind words.
It has been a busy and exciting start to the term, and we are very proud of how well the children have settled back into school routines. We can’t wait to continue our learning journey together and see what the rest of the term brings!
