We have had a lovely week in Year 3, with lots of learning taking place.
In Maths, we have been exploring dividing with remainders, scaling, and solving problems in different ways. The children worked on finding multiple solutions using multiplication to support their thinking.
In English, we have started exploring Selvi’s emotions in The Girl That Lost a Leopard. The children have planned a diary entry, putting themselves in Selvi’s shoes and thinking carefully about how she might feel.
In Geography, we have been learning about rivers and their features, focusing on the upper, middle and lower course.
In Computing, we have been exploring how to sequence sprites (characters) in Scratch.
In Science, we enjoyed a hands-on lesson exploring rocks. The children used observation and touch to help decide whether rocks were sedimentary, metamorphic or igneous.
In DT, we have been researching a range of different bags in preparation for designing and making our own, we also explored and discussed different stitches.
In Music, the children have been learning to read notes on the treble clef and playing these on the recorder.
During Personal Development, we have started to explore the role of money and costs in our lives.
In Spelling, we have been learning about homophones, such as hear and here — words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Miss Hunter
