This week has been very busy in Year 2.
In English, we have continued to read 'Pugs of the Frozen North'. When Sika realised that Shen had sixty-six pugs, she saw an opportunity! She decided that they could enter the race and request a wish from the Snow Father. The race was a long and dangerous journey and when Shen and Sika encountered the Kraken on their quest, they nearly didn't make it! Thank goodness for the pugs who gnawed at the Kraken's tentacles until it slithered back under the ice!
In Maths, we have been exploring Statistics. The children have explored tally charts, tables, bar charts and pictograms. They have really enjoyed working through this maths unit!
In Science, we have been exploring materials. In our first session, we looked at materials that are manufactured and materials that are naturally sourced. In our second session, we discussed how different materials can be used for the same object. For example: a table can be made from wood, metal or glass.
In DT, we looked at different ways of attaching our wheels and axles to our moon buggy. The children decided if they were going to use a clothes peg, a cardboard triangle or a plastic straw.
In History, we started our new topic on Explorers. The first explorer we researched was Neil Armstrong. The children were fascinated to learn about such a significant moment in history. We watched the moon landing and discussed the life of Neil Armstrong.
I hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy the great weather we have been having.
