We've had a bustling week full of fun and learning in our Year 1 classrooms. Here's a peek at what we've been up to and what your little learners have experienced this week:
**English: Sequencing the Story of Katie Morag**
Our English sessions this week have been all about the delightful tales of Katie Morag. The children have been engaging in sequencing activities, allowing them to retell the story in their own words. This has been a fantastic way to boost our understanding of storytelling and narrative order. You might want to ask your child to recount their favourite part of the story at home!
**Maths: Position and Direction**
In Maths, we've been exploring the fascinating world of position and direction. Through games and learning activities, the children learned words like "left," "right," "above," and "below." You can reinforce this at home by playing fun games where they give each other simple directions!
**Science: Sun Safety**
With the sunny weather we've been lucky to have (even in our English climate!), we've focused on the importance of sun safety. Through discussion and role playing, children learned why it's essential to wear hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen when playing outside. It's a lesson in keeping safe and having fun in the sun!
**Geography: Human and Physical Features of Blackpool**
Our little adventurers have been exploring Blackpool, learning about human and physical features. They've discovered fascinating facts about this seaside town and could probably tell you all about the exciting attractions like the Blackpool Tower!
We hope this gives you a good snapshot of our week's adventures. As always, your support and encouragement at home make such a difference in your child's learning journey. Thank you for being a part of it!
Have a lovely weekend,
Year 1 team
