This week in Drawing Club we read ‘Handa’s Surprise’ by Eileen Browne. Reading this story, sparked an interest in Handa and Akeyo’s villages and how they are similar and different to where we live in Standish. We found Kenya on a map and the children thought of different things they would like to find out about what it is like in Kenya.

In Maths, we have been focusing on patterns. The children have identified pattern rules, continued patterns and created their own repeating patterns. They enjoyed making their own bracelets.

Three of our caterpillar’s have formed chrysalis and we are excitedly waiting for butterflies to emerge. The fruit and vegetables in our garden are all growing really well this year and we managed to harvest enough strawberries for everyone to enjoy a piece as part of their snack this week.

Some coloured tape sparked a renewed enthusiasm for junk modelling this week and lots of exciting creations have been produced. The children have impressed me with their focus and creativity and it has been lovely to see them combining skills they have learned over the course of the year in new and creative ways.

The children enjoyed a visit from some members of Year 6 this afternoon who shared stories with them.

Have a lovely weekend.
