Year 6 have had another fantastic week, full of exciting learning and new challenges.

In Maths, we began our new unit on the four operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The children have been working hard on adding and subtracting integers, finding common factors and multiples, learning the rules of divisibility, and identifying prime numbers up to 100.

In English, the children produced their very first piece of extended writing this year – a detailed setting description of the island in Kensuke’s Kingdom. They wrote in the style of Michael Morpurgo, carefully using a range of grammatical features to create vivid and atmospheric descriptions.

Our PSHE learning focused on democracy. We explored what democracy means, why it is important, and how we use it both in school and in wider society.

We also had our first Spanish lesson, where the children were introduced to the language and began building their confidence with some early vocabulary and phrases.

This week’s Forest School session was another highlight. The children had the chance to explore the woodland environment, work together and enjoy a range of activities – all while having plenty of fun outdoors.

In Design and Technology, Year 6 created mini chassis models and thought carefully about why a chassis must be straight, strong and well-constructed. This gave them a practical insight into the foundations of vehicle design.

Finally, we continued with R Time, which helps us to develop positive relationships, social skills and cooperation within the class.

It has been another busy and successful week, and we are very proud of the children’s effort and enthusiasm across all subjects. Well done, Year 6!
