What a wonderful final week we’ve had in Year 2 before the Christmas holidays! The children have worked so hard and finished the term brilliantly.

In English, we continued exploring the poem London Calls. The children created fantastic story maps to show the events in the poem and answered some thoughtful questions to deepen their understanding.

In Geography we have continued to focus on the capital city, London. We used compass points to locate famous landmarks on a map, which the children really enjoyed. We also learned about London’s weather patterns, identifying the hottest and coldest months. Using a graph, we compared temperatures and spotted the highest and lowest averages—great work with data skills!

During our computing lessons, we discovered how lighting can affect photographs. We tried taking pictures with and without a light source to see if this affected the quality of the picture. The children experimented with taking pictures and then had lots of fun editing them on the iPads.

A huge thank you to all the children for their hard work this term—you have been amazing! We also want to thank parents for your continued support, kind words, and generous gifts. It really means so much.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Enjoy the festive break, and we look forward to seeing everyone in January!
