What a wonderfully busy week we've had! The children have dived into a variety of fun and exciting learning experiences. From mathematical adventures to creative art and outdoor exploration, their enthusiasm has been infectious.
This week in maths, we have been working on two key skills: counting on from any number and finding one more. The children are becoming more confident with number sequences and are beginning to understand that they don't always have to start counting from one.
Our English lessons have continued to be an adventure with Professor Klunk. This week, our journey took us through the pages of the lovely book, My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes. The children were particularly captivated by the rhyming story and loved following the illustrations of the different cats from around the world.
During our writing, we focused on some important "codes": capital letters at the beginning of sentences, full stops at the end, and using our 'finger spaces' to separate words. The children did a fantastic job of remembering these rules, and we are so proud of their growing independence as writers.
In Art, our creative focus has been on primary and secondary colours. The children had great fun experimenting with mixing the primary colours of red, yellow, and blue to create the new secondary colours of green, orange, and purple. They were fascinated by how different colours can be made from just three.
In Geography, we have been exploring the human and physical features of our local area, Standish. We discussed the difference between things that are natural, or physical features, and things that are man-made, or human features.
This week in PE, the children have been practising their underarm throw. We worked on technique and aim, with lots of fun games to help them improve their accuracy.
Finally, a special mention must go to our forest school session! The children had a truly wonderful time exploring, climbing trees, and using natural materials for play. The children enjoyed helping Miss Bullen to make wreaths out of conkers to hang in the forest school.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to another exciting week of learning.
