Well I think that this must have been our busiest week in Reception yet!
In Drawing Club, we explored the story Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne. The children designed a new way for Handa to carry her fruit; thought of ways to trick the animals and even invented their own exotic fruit. We found Kenya on a map and will be exploring African life more in coming weeks.
We started the week with a trip to the forest where the children had lots of fun exploring. They continued this into a later session where they let their imaginations run wild with stick creations.
Sports Day was a very exciting day and we really appreciated seeing so many families their supporting. We were very proud of all the children competing in front of such a large crowd!
We have now completed our self-portraits, and can’t wait to share them with you. The children enjoyed exploring pastels and showed great care and creativity when blending colours together.
We ended the week with our Father’s Day assembly to celebrate all the male role models in our lives. We were proud to see how much the children’s confidence has grown in performing over the year – they did an amazing job.
As if all this wasn’t enough, we had very special visitors on Friday, when Mr and Mrs Hargreaves came to talk to the children all about being Crime Scene Investigators. They demonstrated how to see fingerprints on a glass vase before taking time to take the children’s fingerprints – a unique souvenir of their visit.
Have a great weekend.
Mrs Harris
